Heute Morgen unternahm ich meinen letzten langen Spaziergang am Strand... ich marschierte Richtung Norden meiner üblichen Joggingstrecke entlang, aber etwas weiter bis zum Hotel Hilton. Natürlich nahm ich unterwegs auch die Zeit nochmals einen letzten herrlichen doppelten Espresso im Italia Coffee House (https://www.iloveitaliacoffee.com) zu geniessen...

 

This morning I took my last long walk on the beach... I marched northwards along my usual jogging track, but just a little further to the hotel Hilton. Of course, I also took the time to have my last glorious double espresso at the Italia Coffee House (https://www.iloveitaliacoffee.com)...

Zurück im Ocean Reef nahm ich nochmals ein ausgiebiges Bad im warmen türkisfarbenen Meer und tankte etwas Sonne. Chris kochte uns ein supergesundes Mittagessen und dann war Packen angesagt...

Back at Ocean Reef I enjoyed a extensive bath in the warm turquoise ocean and worked a bit on my sun tan. Chris cooked us a super healthy lunch and then it was already time to pack our suitcases...

Virgin Atlantic bereit zum Einsteigen / ready for boarding

 

Um 15 Uhr besuchte Kathleen uns für einen Abschiedsdrink und eine Stunde später wurden wir von Keith abgeholt und zum Flughafen gefahren. Danach lief alles wie am Schnürchen: Obwohl ich mit Virgin Atlantic (https://www.virginatlantic.com) Economy gebucht hatte, konnte ich mit Chris am Upper Class Schalter einchecken. Ich wollte eigentlich noch upgraden aber es hatte keinen Platz mehr in der Upper Class - zum Glück, denn in der Economy hatte es 80 freie Plätze und so hatte ich eine ganze Reihe für mich! Ich verbrachte also die längste Nacht des Jahres im Flugzeug mit exzellentem Service und konnte sogar liegend richtig schlafen! : ))

Wir kamen 20 Minuten früher in London-Gatwick an, hatten also genau 2 Stunden Zeit um unseren Anschlussflug nach Basel zu erreichen. Das war absolut kein Problem, denn kaum waren wir durch die Passkontrolle, konnten wir das Gepäck bereits in Empfang nehmen und nebenan beim exzellenten Service von Gatwick Connect, den ich bereits bei meiner Hinreise kennen gelernt hatte, wieder einchecken! Nun ging es mit dem Shuttle vom South zum North Terminal und bis wir dort waren, konnten wir ins Easyjet (https://www.easyjet.com) Flugzeug nach Basel einsteigen.

 

At 3 pm Kathleen visited us for a farewell drink and one hour later we were picked up by Keith who drove us to the airport. Then everything went like clockwork: Even though I had booked economy with Virgin Atlantic (https://www.virginatlantic.com), I was able to check in at the upper class counter with Chris. I intended to upgrade but the upper class was fully booked - fortunately, because in economy there were 80 free seats and so I had a whole row to myself! Thus I spent the longest night of the year on a plane with excellent service and even had a good night’s sleep in horizontal position! : ))

We arrived at London-Gatwick 20 minutes prior schedule, we consequently had exactly 2 hours time to get our connecting flight to Basel. This was absolutely no problem because as soon as we were through passport control, our luggage was ready to pick up at the baggage claim and to drop off at the excellent service from Gatwick Connect, which I had already the chance to avail myself of on my outward journey! Thereafter we took the shuttle from the South to the North Terminal and by the time we arrived there, we were able to board the Easyjet (https://www.easyjet.com) plane to Basel.

was für ein Willkommen zuhause! / what a welcome home! : ))

 

Wir landeten pünktlich um 10:45 Uhr In Basel. Nach einem starken Kaffee holte ich mein Auto vom Parkplatz der Airport Helicopter und wir fuhren Richtung Beinwil am See. Da Chris eine Woche mit Freunden in St. Moritz verbringen wird und für heute Nacht ein Hotel in Chur gebucht hatte, brachte ich ihn zum Bahnhof in Lenzburg, der auf meinem Heimweg liegt. Auch hier hatten wir ein perfektes Timing: Kaum war das Ticket gekauft fuhr der Zug ein! : )

Etwas müde, aber total zufrieden und absolut erholt nach meiner super Zeit in Barbados machte ich mich auf den Heimweg und erreichte Böju 20 Minuten später…

We landed on time at 10:45 am in Basel. After a strong coffee I went to fetch my car at the parking of the Airport Helicopter and we headed direction Beinwil am See. Since Chris is spending a week with friends in St. Moritz and had booked a hotel in Chur for tonight, I took him to the train station in Lenzburg, which is on my way home. Again, we had perfect timing: No sooner had the ticket been purchased the train arrived! : )

 

A little tired, but totally satisfied and absolutely recovered after my great time in Barbados I was on my way home and reached Böju 20 minutes later...
